About Me.

Jessica Cyphers is a freelance writer and editor from Northern California who teaches English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.  Previously, Jessica worked as a marketing copy writer and technical writer in the public sector, as well as taught English as a Second Language in Taiwan and Hong Kong for three years.  When she's not grading papers or standing in front of a classroom, Jessica can usually be found outdoors running or riding her road bike, or hanging out with the people she loves.​  

​Thanks for stopping by!  I created this site to share my work and advertise my writing, editing, and tutoring services.  My goal for this site is to create a writing and thought community.  I use my blog to share writing tips and tricks, as well as photos from my recent travels.  I hope you'll find it interesting and subscribe!

At the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville, I focused on rhetoric, teaching English as a second language, and creative writing.  After graduating, I became an adjunct teacher at U.T. for both freshmen composition and business writing classes.

At Southern, I focused on English and Journalism. This degree prepared me for jobs in multiple areas, including copy writing, freelance journalism, editing, teaching English abroad, tutoring, and technical writing.
